World Evidence-Based Healthcare (EBHC) Day is observed globally each year on 20 October to advocate for the use of high-quality evidence in healthcare policy, clinical practice, and decision-making. Led by global evidence giants such as Cochrane, JBI, and the Campbell Collaboration, the 2026 campaign is launched under the pivotal theme: "Evidence and AI: People at the Centre." In this prestigious international initiative, Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) has officially joined as an Evidence Ambassador.

As artificial intelligence transforms global healthcare, evidence synthesis, and diagnostics, the 2026 campaign addresses the vital intersection of emerging technologies and human-centered healthcare. The four central pillars of this year's observance highlight public engagement, ethics and governance, system innovation, and transparent communication of verified health data. The core message underscores that while AI holds immense transformative potential, humans—both healthcare professionals and patients—must remain at the heart of health policy and clinical decisions.

BMU has actively advanced evidence-informed clinical practice and academic research in Bangladesh. Through continuous professional development programs—such as specialized training workshops on Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) for faculty members across clinical, laboratory, and allied health departments—the university has been instilling a culture of research-driven medicine.

Achieving the status of an Evidence Ambassador for World EBHC Day 2026 reflects the institution's commitment to global healthcare standards. Through featured campaign contributions, case discussions, and international video highlights, BMU's experts and faculty members are sharing regional perspectives on how evidence and technology can be integrated responsibly in low- and middle-income healthcare systems.

Serving as an Evidence Ambassador connects BMU with a worldwide network of researchers, clinicians, and policy advocates across over 100 countries. It strengthens Bangladesh’s voice in global health discussions, fosters bilateral research partnerships, and promotes ethical, patient-centric AI applications in clinical environments. Moving forward, this milestone will serve as a catalyst for translating rigorous medical evidence into everyday clinical practice, ensuring better, safer, and equitable patient care.
